An excellent, readable book. But lots of gaps in reality. Like how did a "kidnapped" toddler with no passport wind up in China? So sloppy in that regard.
Better than Missing Hearts.

Read for the Glenview Library podcast.
Structured a bit like a mystery, and Ng somehow splits the difference between keeping the plot feeling organic but also tightly constructed. There's a great cast of well-drawn characters, it's almost…

Why is this book so popular? I picked it up hoping to get a thrilling book. It's about birth mothers and "questions what makes a mother" with really, really outdated ideas. The characters are the same I can't keep up with what teen is…

"“Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng is a beautifully written novel that is sure to ignite your imagination. The story takes place in the most “perfect” small suburban town of Shaker Heights, Ohio, where deep secrets and small sparks…

Really enjoyed this book and paths the characters took in their lives. The title was apropos for the amount of drama everyone involved themselves in. Great read.

This book skews a bit into young adult, mostly because much of it is told from the perspective of the well-off teenage Richardson kids and the teen daughter of a single artist mom Mia. The story begins with the Richardson house burning…

This book follows a girl from a upper middle class family who has a number of issues the family would rather not deal with. There is a certain sadness in this book because it’s how people often look at those who are different.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is a fictional book about exploring identity, manipulation, and the struggles of motherhood. The story starts with an element of suspense; however, as the story progresses, the story focuses more on…

Good read!!! Love the way the story and characters lines developed within the book. Wish it had a better ending but makes it open for a part two. Besides that a very good read.

I liked the pace of the book. Characters were complicated and diverse. Some characters grew. Some characters did not. Complicated story that doesn't end like you might expect.

I hadn't read this author before & for me it started a bit slow. The story involves the Richardson family, four teenagers, two parents, well off & a belief that rules are good. Into their well structured life& comes Mia & her daughter…

An enjoyable quick read with themes of motherhood and living the life that’s right for you. As a black sheep myself, I appreciated the explorarion of the mainstream world and the world of those who have a different take. The author uses…
July 2021 Got to page 116, but find the story dragging. Very stereotypical people, which is certainly the point, but do not feel I will be enlightened by continuing.

It is a well constructed book with an intricate kind of who done it plot, though not so much crime related, as the uncovering of family secrets. The plot kept your attention and was logical, easy to follow, and interesting. The characters…

This book got me out of a two year reading slump. So to say the least, I highly recommend. The part that I most loved and hated while reading this story was that I could see myself in every character introduced. Whether that was an…

This is a stunning read. I read it so fast, wanting more and more. At first, it was very hard to keep up with all of the characters and plots, but I caught on quickly. Ng’s writing is so beautiful and complex and her writing can only make…

Hard to put down. Grew up near Shaker Hts so this hit home for me. Thought the story was about a friend's family and ended up reconnecting after decades.
