An epistolary novel taking place in London and the Isle of Guernsey in 1946. Author Juliet Ashton gets a letter out of the blue from Dawsey Adams, a Guernsey man unknown to her. He's read a book of Charles Lamb essays that once belonged…

Our library's Art Lovers Book Club loved this book! It had humour and heartbreak but was overall, a heartwarming story about coming together in the worst of times. In this case, it was the German occupation of the Channel Islands in…

This is one of my favorite books. It’s such a cozy story. I felt so invested in the characters. This novel does a good job of showing real humans experiences during WW2 and the aftermath. I could read this book over and over again.

Such an interesting piece of historical fiction. Never really thought about the Channel Islands during WW II and how disconnected and vulnerable those British subjects must have felt.

I started reading this book a few years ago and disliked the epistolary format, but on second try I absolutely loved it. It's a sweet, deep story about books and love in the aftermath of WWII.

I am not a fan of books written in only letters, but if you are, this was well done. Historical fiction always causes me to look up more on the subject, so it was educational.

one of my favourite reads - and while epistolary novels aren't always my cup of tea - I can't imagine this one being told any other way; great if you love WWII novels, but also just an excellent character-driven story

A lovely story that will put a smile on your face. Written as a series of letters to and from various people. Nice to have a book with a reasonably definitive ending. Far too many books just abruptly stop it seems but not this one.

This was an interesting and well thought out book. The writing style is different but that is part of the enjoyment of reading this book. The reader is given many things to think about and consider how things would be on an isolated, enemy…

One of my very favorite books. A little lightness in a dark era, but willing to feel the wounds.

Readers who are put off by the overly cute title are missing out on a more substantial and earthbound story than would be expected. Readers looking for a cozy, lighthearted read may find it in places considerably more gritty than they…

When Juliet, the protagonist of this tale, is struggling to write her book, her friend/publisher tells her, "Strings of anecdotes don't make a book." Which is ironic because "Guernsey Literary" is essentially a string of anecdotes told to…

Good book character Elizabeth what a force! Shameful her death. Ended up everyone lived happily ever after. Also made me want to visit Guernsey.
