Lucas Davenport returns in one of the most startling Prey novels yet from the number-one-bestselling author.

A wealthy woman and her maid are murdered. Robbery would seem the likely scenario, except that none of the clues are coming together for Lucas Davenport. At least not those he can see.

Baker & Taylor
Investigating a seemingly open-and-shut double homicide case involving a pair of wealthy elderly women, Lucas Davenport begins to suspect that a handful of small items that were stolen from the crime scene may have had more significant values.

I think this is the one Davenport book by Sandford which comes closest to being a mystery [not a certified one, but in comparison to the other Sanford books]. Not bad, with a sound ending.

This was a good-only book. Have read much better by Sandford - such as "Mad River" among others.

Agree that it was Sandford' s better thriller with less "leap of faith" lucky breaks in Lucas/Flowers murder investigations. The Rio Grande crossing at the end was a nice touch.

A very Sandford book but unfortunately not one of his best. The good part is that it wasn't one of his worst
