I didn’t like this book quite as much as Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, but it still has its own endearing qualities. Written by same two authors as Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, the story alternates viewpoints between the self-described “weird girl” Lily and the “snarly” Dash. Lily leaves a red Moleskin notebook with specific instructions at The Strand bookstore, and Dash is intrigued enough to play along. Soon the two are writing to each other and sending each other on various, Christmas-themed adventures. It’s a strange scavenger hunt in which the characters are always over-analyzing each other’s actions, but they are still interested and quirky enough to keep playing along.

This book is truly amazing. Dash and Lily are wonderful, fleshed-out characters with realistic lives. The contrast between their personalities is stark and interesting, and the book is paced nicely as well.

I felt that I was really able to relate to the characters, and being a teenager myself, I found that they were written to be true to their ages.

I was feeling really down, depressed, actually, and then I read this book. It really struck a chord with me and brought me some laughter as well as hope.

It's a christmas miracle in a non-syrupy way, an 'against all odds, it worked out' story that actually feels real.

This is now one of my all-time favorite books, and I absolutely reccomend it for any time of year.

I had not realised it was the same author as Nick and Nora's infinite play list but I can definitely see the similarity in the story.

It is a nice adventure and an fun read.

If you love Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Will Grayson, Will Grayson you have found your next read! Dash and Lily are both very witty teens corresponding between a notebook Lily left in a used book store (next to Franny and Zoe, or course). The chapters alternate between Lily and Dash's point of view which were written by Cohn and Levithan respectively. This is a fun, quick read that would be the perfect winter vacation book.

This is great! It is a feel-good holiday book, and that's exactly what it does, makes you feel good! I absolutely loved the witty humor and their personalities, they were hilarious and real. I've read a lot of reviews where people were saying, "kids don't really think/talk/act like that," but I could really relate. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares will be a holiday re-read for sure!

Very cute story! fun dialog and great descriptions. Interesting characters whom we get to know through letters and notes to each other in a notebook Lily and Dash pass back and forth to each other. One note is that I didn't necessarily find the characters to be believable. They were very smart, poetry-reading, philosophy-touting teens. They were likable though and quirky.

This was so, so, SO great! I loved the book, the way that Dash and Lily's actions couldn't be predicted, the references, and just everything. I honestly can't describe how much I love this book. However: Dash will come across as hella pretentious at first, but it grows on you, trust me :)

Another great book by this dynamic duo! I seriously started to laugh so hard I was crying at the one point in this book. Fantastic!

It's a really fun, entertaining, light read that has characters that are deep and real and who actually seem to be going through a real teenage experience.

Imagine this: Christmas holiday in NYC, but no one to spend it with. At least that's what Lily thought when her parents left to celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary in Fiji and her brother got a new boyfriend to spend the holidays with. A red notebook, safely tucked away next to a copy of her favorite book in the Strand, was the answer to all her problems. When Dash finds her notebook a friendship forms between them through written words, hidden clues and a wild goose chase around the city. But will anything else come out of this scavenger hunt?

"Do you know me?" I persisted. "Did I grind you to a pulp in kindergarten, and are you now getting sadistic pleasure from this petty revenge? Stephen Little, is that you? Is it? I was much younger then, and foolish to have nearly drowned you in that water fountain. IN my defense, you prior destruction of my book report was completely un warranted act of aggression."
