When Sunday meets an enchanted frog who asks about her stories, the two become friends. Soon that friendship deepens into something magical. One night Sunday kisses her frog goodbye and leaves, not realizing that her love has transformed him back into Rumbold, the crown prince of Arilland—and a man Sunday’s family despises.
The prince returns to his castle, intent on making Sunday fall in love with him as the man he is, not the frog he was. But Sunday is not so easy to woo. How can she feel such a strange, strong attraction for this prince she barely knows? And what twisted secrets lie hidden in his past - and hers?

Add a CommentI was intrigued by the concept of the seven sisters named after the days of the week, the frog turned back into a prince, etc. There were also fragments of other fairy tales scattered throughout -- the cow sold for the beans which become a huge beanstalk. . ., the goose who lays the golden egg, spinning wool (instead of straw) into gold and more.
This book, though, had an underlying tone of black magic which was not appealing to me. I was rooting for Sunday and Rumbold, but the dark forces in their families were too grim for me. Perhaps I have been too "disneyfied" when it comes to fairy tales. I'm sure many would remind me of the grisly plots the Grimm brothers originally penned. This book was an interesting ride, but I do not think I will go back for more of the Woodcutter series.
I was looking forward to reading this book because it's a fairytale retelling. Well, it's more like a dozen fairytales combined into one short book, which just made it super confusing. Halfway through, I decided I just wasn't going to understand everything that was going on so I just sped towards the end. I liked the side characters more than the main characters so I'm thinking I will probably read the sequels to find out more about them. Overall, I liked it because of her writing style, which was beautiful and quick, but it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
Althea have change the fairy tales into one magical book with twists and new surprises.Very enchanted book indeed.
I liked him better as a frog. But the story was good even when I was irritated at it, I didn't want to stop reading. There was some points were the story line changed a bit, not horribly noticeable unless you are a very detailed reader. Just minor inconsistencies. The end was fabulous though and I want to know more about the rest of the Woodcutter family.
I have been wanting to read Enchanted since I first stumbled across it. Alethea Kontis has a fun YouTube channel where she rants on fairytales (often little-known ones) and I was a part of the Hero Book Tour. And then Amber gave Enchanted to me for the Christmas in July book swap. So at last I was able to read it!
This one is a very fun, lighthearted romp through many, many fairytales. It's not exactly a retelling, more of a mash-up, but in true fairytale style. So there's instalove, and plenty of magic, and just go with it.
The story is a sweet romance, as well as an introduction to the Woodcutter family and their fairytale world. I was tickled pink by the multitude of (mostly subtle) references to a variety of fairytales, including some lesser-known variants. Kontis weaves them into the story, so they feel like a natural extension of it. And they are by far the most clever and unique part of the story. Which is not to say the book is bad, just known.
I recommend this one for fans of fairytales in general, sweet and quick romantic reads, and fictional worlds that have plenty of interesting characters (whose stories are waiting to be told). Personally, I want to read more about Thursday and Saturday now.
Good book
A great read overall, and the characters were good. I wasn't crazy about Saturday and liked Rumbold better as a frog, but otherwise I liked pretty much everyone.
it looks good
This book is quite good, but not as good as the sisters grimm series. You should read the sisters grimm series!!! It's so good!! Best fantasy fairy tale remake i ever read, and i read a lot.
Captivating book. It had me hooked until the end. Enchanted does not contain just one fairytale but has aspects of many.
