Retired U.N. investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family are sitting in what appears to be a typical Philadelphia traffic jam when helicopters began to circle ominously overhead, and an explosion throws the city into panic. In the blink of an eye, the streets are consumed by chaos. When Gerry learns that the catalyst for the turmoil is a highly contagious virus that transforms those who contract it into rampaging maniacs, and that legions of the infected are growing on all continents, he agrees to join his former colleagues in discovering the source of the rampant plague so that his wife and two daughters will be guaranteed safety aboard a UN fleet in the Atlantic Ocean. Just when Gerry thinks he's traced the origins of the virus, however, the unthinkable happens.

I happen to enjoy this movie. I have watched it at least 11 times. I am not a big fan of Brad Pitt, or Zombie movies but this happens to be good and relaxing entertainment. I happen to like a survivalist theme, here we have a man defending his family. Of course the zombie thing is very unlikely, viruses simply kill people, but as entertainment it beats a lot of television. I have made a number of negative comments on other videos and movies so it's nice to say something positive.

OK first it does not follow the book at all but I get it. He wanted to make a zombie flick that his kids could watch. Plenty of safe scares and excitement, but one big flaw SPOILER FOLLOWS
if the Zeds don't attack sick people, there would have been tens of thousands of examples of people who were in hospitals and nursing homes that would have been left untouched for everyone to see so.............but it was enjoyable PS if you are a fan of doctor who look for the who joke in the credits.

Here are 2 of my biggest beefs which lost WWZ some significant points.

(1) The wall that was built around the entire city of Jerusalem was a stroke of sheer stupidity which went way beyond anything even marginally plausible. Like, do you actually realize what sort of an undertaking this would be to construct such a wall as this? (And after it was built it didn't even turn out to be zombie-proof anyways)

(2) I thought that the Gerry Lane character, played by that over-rated actor, Brad Pitt, made for an absolutely terrible hero. This guy was completely clueless as to what was going one, yet it seemed like everyone was relying on this dunce to save the day. (Spare me, please!)

Based off of the novel, former UN investigatory Gerry Lane played by Brad Pitt, and his family are trapped in an urban complex during a traffic jam. Gerry begins to suspect that this isn’t regular traffic and that something much worse is at play. He soon discovers that a massive virus outbreak has infected many. The virus turns healthy normal people into vicious flesh eating monsters. This virus spreads with a single bite making the containment and discovery of this virus crucial. Gerry Lane goes on a mission to discover where the virus came from and how it can be stopped. Released in 2013 and directed by Marc Forster, this dramatic thriller is worth the watch.

Gerry Lane’s life seems normal until he notices that the traffic jam he is in is because of an outbreak. An infectious virus has spread and people are becoming zombies. The zombies infect you if you get bitten. Gerry used to work in the United Nations, and now he is asked to rejoin in order to assist with this pandemic that is plaguing the world. Gerry agrees and searches for a cure to somehow stop the infection from causing any more damage than it already has. I really enjoyed this movie. Even if the plot isn’t necessarily original, it was executed very well and it really felt like an apocalyptic movie.

Disappointing. Didn't follow the book at all. The audiobook was much better.

The action sequences are much of a sameness, and after a while it just gets unmemorable. Can't recall the twist ending, but don't worry: if you pay attention it is telegraphed well in advance.

I love zombie movies just not this one should just did a movie off a screen play not was not based off the book. The only thing cool about this movie is the title. I still think people should watch do see what they think.

Glad I didn't pay to see this, despite being mildly entertained & sometimes a bit anxious... not a far fetched idea of a pandemic, but not like this.

I love zombie movies and this one was pretty much....meh. Which was surprising with such a big name actor. Won't be watching it a second time....

When nine people agree on something, it’s the tenth man’s responsibility to disagree no matter how improbable the idea.

When the email came through that zombies were on their way, the tenth man proposed that they prepare for a zombie invasion, no matter how ridiculous the idea seemed.

If the tenth man hadn’t spoken, Israel would have been overrun by zombies like the rest of the world.

The tenth man forced Israel to consider an alternative view point, something we humans usually resist.

Andrew Fassbach (Harvard Scientist): Mother Nature is a serial killer. No one's better, or more creative. Like all serial killers, she can't help but have the urge to get caught or what good would all those brilliant crimes do if no one takes the credit? So she leaves crumbs. Now the hard part, is seeing the crumbs, the clues there. Sometimes it's in your thoughts where the most brutal part of a virus is. Turns out to be the chink in its armor. And she loves disguising her weaknesses as strengths. She's a bitch.
