This book wasn't as good as "Trophy Child"; however, it provided an insightful exploration into the workings of relationships. An intriguing plot, with well-defined characters. Nevertheless well worth reading.

Luckily, the book jacket caught my eye in our library today. On the inside cover the author of "Into the Darkest Corner" gave it a glowing review and I really liked that disturbing book. This is a debut novel and I suspect this British author will only improve. I thought it was more of a page turner than Gone Girl OR Girl on the Train.

Second book I have read from this author. Love her style and story progression. She has become one with of my favorite writers. This book is a must read and her comments afterward really hit home with women and what they battle each day.

Debut novel of suspense from Brittish writer Paula Daly, about a woman - who runs an animal shelter - whose friend's daughter goes missing and blames herself for it because the daughter was supposed to stay at her house and when she didn't show up she neglected to call her friend. The woman who is the central character, suffers from self doubt and of being inadequate beside her friends resulting in her feeling guilty because of the dissapearance. She then starts to suspect not all what she sees in her friends is what is seems. Good first novel

I think this was a very good effort for a first time writer. Interesting story with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. I Definitely recommend it as a summer read or to fans of suspenseful fiction.

At first I was shocked, then I was getting mad because they were blaming Lisa 100% and that just bugged me. Then I started to wonder about Kate... Book was ok, the ending kind of had you wonder but it was ok...

This British thriller started as my hero, full of tough-as-nails feminist promise. An overstressed mother in the English Lake District loses her best friend’s 13 year old daughter during a string of local disappearances, and thus we head down the dark and twisty path of modern parenthood. Just What Kind of Mother Are You? has all the right ingredients: cheating spouses, plotting frenemies, sinister fathers, secrets roiling just beneath the surface of everyday domestic life. There’s even a subplot about dog rescue. But as I tore through, I started to feel disappointed and was reminded of praise Gillian Flynn recently showered on Alafiar Burke: ”you know you’re in good hands with her, and can relax without wondering if things are going to fall apart midway through.” That thriller pixie magic didn't quite happen for me here; this is Daly’s first novel, and I think she’s still feeling her way through, sharpening her craft and learning all the tricks. Her language and insights are both sharp, and I’m looking forward to how effortlessly she’ll certainly handle the twists in her second and third books.

This book confuses me. At times I really wanted to put this one down due to some disturbing content. Yet at other times I couldn’t stop reading it. I’m still not sure how I feel about it overall. But it had a pretty good twist at the end!
