I haven't seen the first two instalments of this series, and after watching this I doubt I'll break a sweat trying to find them. The technical end of the movie was well done, but the story was definitely lacking.

Rape Culture? Wait until we're living under Shariah Law....Then You'll have something to complain about!

Horribly misogynistic and border lining being and addition to rape culture. Trying to reach back to it's Pitch Black roots, this latest addition to the franchise fails to do so by bringing us action garbage.

Pitch Black was a sci-fi movie that came out of nowhere that was innovative and exciting. This movie is none of those things. I don't think Riddick is that interesting as a character, especially as the lead. He worked so well in Pitch Black because he was a supporting character. I'm hoping this is the last we see of Riddick.

Borrowed and watch it because I wanted to watch the next Vin Diesel "Pitch Black" installment. No other reason. For that, my expectations were met. The film provided many moments of suspense, connection with the characters, lots of action (bravery and stupidity alike). I enjoyed it.

Van Diesel dose it again in this edge of your seat movie....But when it's Van Diesel do you expect anything less.

Cool if you're entertained by ultra-macho posturing and endless rape threats towards the only female character. Nice cinematography and special effects. The dingo is the best part of the movie. Not much of a story. The dragged-out pace put me in a coma.

It's enjoyable. This one is very similar to the original "Pitch Black" that started the series. Lots of Riddick versus hostile wildlife and Riddick versus the lesser bad-asses who try and capture him. Most things are cool and done very well but some things just aren't. Sometimes logic fails. You kind of have to gloss over those moments. Riddick is certainly dangerous but he also benefits greatly from his enemies being dumb. I did like how this one was more about Riddick's struggle to survive and less about how much of a ridiculous badass he is. Katee Sackhoff is great but as bad-ass as her character is she is still basically there for objectification. Overall it's a fun average movie with a couple low points and things that could have been done better. The Riddick franchise should move away from being so centered on just his character. The hints about the larger universe Riddick exists within seem interesting and could be explored more.

“Riddick” was way too heavy on the narration; I found it annoying. I like the main character and feel it’s a shame that the stories have only gone downhill after the first movie of this franchise.

From IMDb (lots of quotes published):
Riddick: Don't know how many times I've been crossed off the list and left for dead. Guess when it first happens the day you were born, you're gonna lose count. So this, this ain't nothing new.

Riddick: There are bad days, and then there are legendary bad days. This was shaping up to be one of those. Whole damn planet wanted a piece of me. Can't stay in the open. Can't risk another attack. It's always the punch you don't see coming that puts you down. But why didn't I see it? But why didn't I see it? Of course they were gonna try and kill me. Death is what they do for a living. So the question ain't "What happened?" The question is "What happened to me?"
