SOMEONE KNOWS LANA’S SECRET—AND HE’S DYING TO TELL.

LANA GRANGER LIVES A LIFE OF LIES. She has told so many lies about where she comes from and who she is that the truth is like a cloudy nightmare she can’t quite recall. About to graduate from college and with her trust fund almost tapped out, she takes a job babysitting a troubled boy named Luke. Expelled from schools all over the country, the manipulative young Luke is accustomed to controlling the people in his life. But, in Lana, he may have met his match. Or has Lana met hers?

When Lana’s closest friend, Beck, mysteriously disappears, Lana resumes her lying ways—to friends, to the police, to herself. The police have a lot of questions for Lana when the story about her whereabouts the night Beck disappeared doesn’t jibe with eyewitness accounts. Lana will do anything to hide the truth, but it might not be enough to keep her ominous secrets buried: someone else knows about Lana’s lies. And he’s dying to tell.

Lisa Unger’s writing has been hailed as “sensational” (Publishers Weekly) and “sophisticated” (New York Daily News), with “gripping narrative and evocative, muscular prose” (Associated Press). Masterfully suspenseful, finely crafted, and written with a no-holds-barred raw power, In the Blood is Unger at her best.

Story about insecure babysitter and sinister boy she cares for. Not suspenseful for me.

This was a humdinger of a mystery and I devoured it in one day. I definitely recommend it and I'm so glad I discovered this author--thanks to the person who reviewed her other works and gave me a new list of books to read!

I have always found that books or movies with creepy kids in them give me the chills. This book was no exception. In the Blood is suspenseful, disturbing, and gripping. I had a difficult time knowing who was going to rise above evil and who was going to fall. I was trusting, throughout the novel, that some characters would come out okay. The ending was a bit convoluted, but overall this was a great read.

This is the first Lisa Unger book that I have read and I truly enjoyed it. In fact I binge-read it pretty much in an afternoon! I had guessed the outcome fairly early on, but it was one of those stories that kept me second-guessing myself, so I just had to finish it! The main character was wonderful - I loved the honesty about inner thoughts and feelings. The plot was interesting and compelling. Looking forward to enjoying another of her books!

Great psychological mystery about a girl who lives a life of lies to protect herself. There are lots of twists and turns as you learn the truth and the ending is a surprise I didn't see coming.

great psychological thriller; lots of unexpected twists. Started reading this book, and thought I knew where it was going after the first chapter, but actually did not, and was hooked.

If, like me, you think you've figured out "in the blood," think again. This book has so many twists and turns and leads you along in so many different paths that it is only when you finally finish the book that you are completely satisfied that all the loose ends have been tied.

Lana goes to tutor Luke and thus begins a strange relationship. Is this the cause of all the strange events that ensue? Read the book to find out.
