This one definitely deserves its status as a classic. The music, dancing, and acting are great, and I went from tearing up at parts, to laughing, to singing, to actually holding my breath as the tension built, to laughing out loud again. I had seen bits and pieces of this story over the years, but had never seen it from beginning to end, and I'm so glad that I can now say that I have.

I have watched this movie more than 10 times. Our 8 year old has watched it even more and sings along. One of the best movies we have watched. It is a movie to have so we bought the DVD.

A classic! Very good, and it is very family-friendly...I wish it was a little shorter though. This a movie that is a must-see for anyone. I mean everyone one time in their life, should watch this at least once!

Though not shown in "Details" or "Full Record", the single disc DVD includes the full length remastered film, The "Music Machine Sing Along" for all the music performances and "The Sound of Music Tour --- A Living Story." It is a joy to see children give their undivided attention to the nearly 3 hour long movie while humming along to their favorite tunes, especially Do-Re-Mi, The Lonely Goat Herd and So Long, Farewell ...

Captain von Trapp: "It's the dress. You'll have to put on another one before you meet the children." Maria: "But I don't have another one. When we entered the abbey our worldly clothes were given to the poor." Captain von Trapp: "What about this one?" Maria: "The poor didn't want this one."

I'm ten, and I think your dress is the ugliest one I ever saw!" Kurt: "Brigitta, you shouldn't say that!" Brigitta: "Why not? Don't you think it's ugly?" Kurt: "Of course, but Fraulein Helga's was ugliest."
