Add a CommentA great compilation of poetry that would be suitable for both those who love poetry and especially for those who are new to it. Lithgow introduces us to a poet with a quick half page summary of their life and the times they lived in. Then he includes one or two poems by that poet and explains why he personally loves those poems. It is an enjoyable way to sample many different types of poetry.
With a face like Lithgow, how could his insight into poetry not be anything but warm, clever and entertaining, and indeed, that's what you get! If you have read some of his selections, his short commentaries add a nice touch, and if you haven't, well, you'll be spurred to read on. Great introduction to anyone reluctant to read poetry.
