For Rose Gardner, working at the DMV is bad even before she has a vision of herself dead. She's had plenty of visions, but this one is unique. When her overbearing momma winds up murdered instead of Rose, one thing is certain: Rose is the prime suspect. With her death looming, Rose realizes she's wasted her life and makes a list on the back of a Wal-Mart receipt: twenty-eight things she wants to accomplish before her vision comes true. She's well on her way with the help of her neighbor Joe. While Joe is new to town, it doesn't take a vision for Rose to realize he's got plenty secrets of his own. When her house is broken into and someone else she knows is murdered, Rose realizes that dying a virgin in the county jail isn't her biggest worry after all...

This was a fun fast read. Rose is a likable character who has lived her entire life under the thumb of an abusive, domineering mother. When her mother dies and she becomes the prime suspect, all Rose wants to do is clear her name and keep crossing items off her list of things she wants to do before she dies. This is a charming mystery that keeps the reader turning pages until the very end. This novel is full of action and fun. I look forward to reading book two in this light, fun, mystery series.

In the beginning, Rose's naïve personality was somewhat endearing, and made for a few laughs. However, as the story progressed, her gullibility became less and less believable, escalating from charming to downright frustrating. As the central figure for this narrative, Rose herself is likeable yet unappealing all at once. The overall plot seemed implausible, relying entirely on coincidence and Rose's "visions" to help her solve the case - a plot in which many aspects were eventually explained in a lackadaisical manner. If you're looking for a lighthearted read with a bit of romance and suspense, I'd recommend checking this out.
