The problem here is it been done before & wooden script
Bombastic director went for safe cliched subject instead of something new like General Slim's Burma Campaign, quick & dirty building the Alaskan Highway or comedy of errors Japanese & American duking it out in Attu Island resulting in friendly fire.
Expensive slick movie not recommended. Stick with the older films. They had more soul & feelings.
There are better war movies out there.

Michael Bay explosions plus lame love triangle that takes up three-quarters of the film plus borderline offensive inaccuracies and caricatures plus flag waving equals $? Clearly, Bay wants to salute classic wartime films, but either he has no understanding of what makes them good, or he can't help playing to his base. Believe me, From Here to Eternity this is not.

This is a 2001 American epic war film with romance and action elements directed by Michael Bay.
It focuses on a dramatic reimagining of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor as well as the Doolittle Raid.
Many Pearl Harbor survivors dismissed the film as grossly inaccurate and pure Hollywood.
For example, one scene shows a sailor with a pack of Marlboro Light cigarettes in his pocket which were not introduced until 1972.
In the "Making of Pearl Harbor," the producer Jerry Bruckheimer says, "We tried to be accurate, but it's certainly not meant to be a history lesson."
Although the romance is a mere fiction and not so romantic, the dramatic reimaging of the Japanese attack appears superb.
In any case, it is a gripping and fascinating account of the historical drama.

This is an example of a film that deserves better critical notice. I can understand that the screenplay was not the best ever written as evidenced by some laughable dialogue. But the Attack on Pearl Harbor is very engaging.

Action packed, wartime romance that I fell in love with upon my return from Hawaii, a place that I fell in love with. Special effects and scenery are amazing!

Returning from the dead wasn't all that I expected... but that's life.
