Lovely book about a 9 year old girl who realizes that there are structural underpinnings holding up the things she love in her neighbourhood. She also realizes that the lovely man who selects books for her, is beloved by many, and that many, working together can make change. There is a tiny bit of language and reference points that introduce us to India, which is a lovely bonus. Also, it's about a girl who LOVES books.

I really enjoyed this book. There is an election here that is oversimplified, but then this is a children's book. It showed simple but real ways that even children can get involved with political issues. Yet the book dealt less with politics than the stories of real people Yasmin knows.
