First few chapters were relevant enough and touched such a raw place that I went out and bought my own copy. Great resource for both women who have been through a miscarriage and for family members, spouses, friends, etc. who want to be able to support the woman in need. If it can't be read too close to the loss, I would still recommend it as part of the healing process even a few months later.

The author wrote this book after experiencing three miscarriages. She acknowledges that she is not a medical practitioner or psychologist and emphasizes that her book should not serve as a substitute for a physician's advice. As the catalogue description says, the book is a balance between the emotional and technical. What this book does very well is acknowledge the grief of miscarriage and pregnancy loss. If only more books on this topic would begin with the words: "I offer you my condolences for having felt compelled to pick up this book. You are probably feeling alone and in a place that no one should ever have to be..." It goes on to offer hope to readers. I found it an affirming read in light of my own struggle with recurrent miscarriage. Information about medical tests is written from an American perspective, which Canadian readers should keep in mind.
