In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble, LEGO Batman, stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from the Joker's hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others, and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

As a long time Batman fan, this movie bothered me on a few levels. I get that it's for kids, but I feel like only kids could appreciate this movie a lot. I did not feel this way about The Lego Movie, which remains one of my favorite movies ever.

The first 15 minutes were amazing and jaw dropping... and then it just died. A little Lego Batman goes a long way, but too much and it's excruciating to watch. The next hour was hard to get through and the finale was alright. Maybe if it were a Justice League movie with a sprinkle of Batman would have been fine, but watching that version of Batman for 1h 45m is pretty hard to get through. You look at the end credits and it's filled with so many comedians; so why isn't it much, much funnier. Didn't realize who the Joker was being played by until the end credits. Ironically, the Joker just isn't funny in this movie.

While THE LEGO MOVIE appealed to me and spoke to audiences of all ages, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE was geared a little younger with, yes, a sprinkling of jokes for the grown-ups. For example, I appreciated some of the jabs at the expense of the original Adam West Batman series and a few nodding to the eighties/nineties flicks with which I grew up. But, for the most part, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE goes for the heavy-handed emotional notes, trying to yank on those heartstrings every chance it got. While it didn't bother me too much and I was able to bear it better than those around me, the emotional appeals started to wear thin and became less and less effective through that overuse. Overall, though, it was a decent time waster, and, if you're not expecting too much, I think you'll get a chuckle from THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE.

The Lego Batman Movie was better than I thought it would be. I expected silly humor that would appeal to my 4th grader, but found that I found it funny myself.

Will Arnett is the best Batman, but this movie's strong start slowly bogs down into an exploration of Batman's fear of intimacy.

A good one time movie experience that became less interesting on the second viewing where I eventually stopped watching 3/4 through due to constant attempts of humor (not always hitting well or being awkward) and Batman marble gargling voice even as Bruce Wayne.

A great Lego movie! A great Batman movie! A great movie all around!

Overall it was a very funny, snarky take on the Batman genre, including all the films and even the 60s TV series! It even gives us a little Batman vs. Superman stuff, along with all of Batman's nemeses, especially of course The Joker. I liked that part, but then it got all involved with high-intensity, steroid-fueled violence and action, muddying the whole thing. Still, most folks will like the whole Lego theme, and it was very funny when not overwhelmed by super-fast-action cartoon violence. Worth watching if you like the Lego movie(s).

Incredibly fun, although also fairly forgettable and yet another movie which has as its moral a view of the family as a voluntary association one can enter or leave at will. Still, if you want a deep, engaging, meaningful story, you're probably not looking at the Lego Batman Movie. If you want a fun way to spend a few hours, this is a good option, especially if you're familiar with the various incarnations of Batman down through the decades.

When I was younger I loved playing with LEGO just like every other child did. Even though I am now older, I was still really excited when I found out that there would be a LEGO batman movie. I am not that into superheroes, but words cannot express my excitement to watch my favorite childhood toy come to life. Throughout this movie, you get to witness the wonders of film and imagination, since it takes a lot of skill to make toys seem like real, speaking people, and the plot is something like none other. I believe that many children watching this movie will find joy in it as well. There is a marvelous combination of artistic cinematography and superhero action which make this a film for anyone. Whether you like it because it's fun or because you can appreciate the work put into it, it is a great movie that the whole family can enjoy.

After playing the Lego Batman video games, I wanted to watch The Lego Batman movie. I really enjoyed the movie. I love all the characters especially Joker and Robin and Batman of course. Its a great animated family movie to watch. My sister and I watched it together and the movie was hilarious too. Batman usually works alone but when Joker gets very evil, he has to step down and try to work with others and learn to lighten up. I liked the storyline and all the characters are really cool. Great family movie to watch! 5/5 stars.
