Didn't have it long enough to try the diet, but found the information interesting. I have to try the 21 day reset diet to see if it will work for me. I love berries, fruits & veggies but apparently these can only be add after the 21 days, but I'm not sure if that is right until I actually get the book back again to try everything properly. The book does contain lots of recipes but as a vegan it might be difficult for me to get a balanced diet. Not one to calculate stuff when I'm in a hurry to get food or just throw something together, I'm hoping this book helps me figure out how to do this and still stay on the diet. Will update once I have had more time with the book.

This is the book I wish I would have read before starting Keto. It gives a nice transition plan into the low-carb/high-fat/mod-protein way of eating. I especially liked the non-food tips related to self-care/sleep/exercise and the such. Would definitely recommend for anyone starting a Keto way of life.

Compelled with curiosity stirred by a couple of friends who are following a ketogenic diet, I eagerly read this comprehensive introduction to the diet. The book covers the science behind the plan, offers recipes (that sound fantastic!) and addresses tips and troubleshooting.

What struck me throughout is how entrenched my ideas of nutrition are, probably thanks to a lifetime of Weight Watchers indoctrination (e.g., sugar and fat are bad, carbs from veggies and fruits--within reason--are good). Keto espouses a high fat, moderate protein and very low carbohydrate (20g a day if rather sedentary; 50g if active) formula as well as intermittent fasting (a compressed eating schedule). The carb limit is so low that, for the most part, a piece of fruit would send me over my carbohydrate limit for the day. The jury's out as to whether I will try this. A good book though!
