"From an internationally acclaimed author, a disturbing and addictive novel of domestic suspense where secrets kept hidden from spouses cause shocking surprises that hit home. There's nothing unusual about a new family moving in at 91 Trinity Avenue. Except it's her house. And she didn't sell it. When Fiona Lawson comes home to find strangers moving into her house, she's sure there's been a mistake. She and her estranged husband, Bram, have a modern coparenting arrangement: bird's nest custody, where each parent spends a few nights a week with their two sons at the prized family home to maintain stability for their children. But the system built to protect their family ends up putting them in terrible jeopardy. In a domino effect of crimes and misdemeanors, the nest comes tumbling down. Now Bram has disappeared and so have Fiona's children. As events spiral well beyond her control, Fiona will discover just how many lies her husband was weaving and how little they truly knew each other. But Bram's not the only one with things to hide, and some secrets are best kept to oneself, safe as houses"-- Provided by publisher.

This book will make you rethink going over the speed limit or coveting that McMansion down the street. Fiona and her ex-husband, Bram, have a birds' nest custody agreement so they can keep their home in their pricey London neighborhood. Until one day Fiona comes home early from their trip to a moving van outside and a new couple moving in. This novel is full of twists and has an ending worthy of O Henry. -- Angie (See more of my picks by following WoodneathAngie in the catalog)

The format of the story-telling in this novel is a blend of "present moment" with a pod-cast reflection on what happened and a written confession created a story that was quite layered with multiple perspectives. This meant you never know just which story is the "true" one. The characters were flawed and not terribly likable at times, but I found myself unable to look away from the twisted wreckage of their marriage. I was constantly guessing at who was at fault for the mess. And the ending was best of all. Author Louise Candlish deftly wraps up the story in the way that will subtly punch readers straight in the gut. She's an author I'll be looking to read more of in the future.

Identity theft with some adultery, road rage and more thrown in. A compelling thriller that got bogged down a bit in the middle. The story is broken into different POVs and timelines. Two for both Fiona and Bram. Bram's present day storyline was not as engaging as Fiona's and I often found myself impatient to return to what was happening to Fiona in the now. The past story lines of the two were written nicely so that they often overlapped just slightly. That worked very well. Definitely a page turner with some very intriguing twists. Would make a fantastic book group selection.
