Primatologist Davis (Dwayne Johnson) shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. When a greed-fueled corporation's genetic experiment goes awry, George and other animals across the country are mutated into aggressive super creatures that rampage the city. In an adrenaline-filled ride, Davis tries to find an antidote to not only halt a global catastrophe, but to also save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

While trying to find the cure for cancer by “gene editing”, scientists have (not-so) accidently created a serum that turns normal animals into angry, enormous monsters. To avoid the prying eyes of the government and others who might notice titanic hamsters devouring downtown, these scientists have been carrying out their experiments in space. But when things go awry, several canisters of monster juice are sent hurtling to Earth. Two land in the wilderness and another crashes into San Diego zoo, where Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson) works with gorillas. His favourite, an albino called George, is affected by the serum and grows colossal and violent. To pick apart the plot would be a waste of time since this movie is about three huge animals (a wolf, a crocodile, and a gorilla) wrecking buildings and murdering innocents. When it comes to the building-punching portion of the show, there could have been more of it. Overall, Rampage is big dumb fun, but not as big, dumb and fun as it could have been. Rating – 2/5.

This was a super fun and silly action movie based off a video game. The story was just plain silly but also super fun and full of heart. I found the animation to be pretty good as well. Definitely easy watching.

If you like comic book storytelling with the same level acting, and the production detail of Saturday morning TV then you'll get your hoorahs out of this movie.
A bit behind the times when the movie says that CRISPR/CAS-9 gene editing was categorized a mass destruction tool in 2016 - wrong, not even in the ballpark. Research on the science script part of he movie is hokey such as an astronaut in zero gravity having hair stay firmly in neat place or that scaling up animals without regard to mass, surface area and bones, etc. would still work - not happening (middle school science wrong).
Usual evil corporations; inadequate muted military response; lone scientist w/quickie solution to be used in about 90 min. Johnson in his narcissistic tight t's (at least it's worth millions in acting fees). So what's to question? Well, non-acting for one; juvenile dialogue for another.

A silly action story taking advantage of the fame or box office appeal of Dwayne Johnson to sell some tickets. The action is loud, ceaseless, and boring. Special effects are pretty good. I would not recommend.

Just finished watching Rampage this last weekend. And, all-and-all, it's not all that bad (for a video game-based movie, at least).
Of course, they did take a few liberties with the license. I don't know everything about the Rampage lore; but the most telling difference is this: the video game was about three HUMANS who were turned into these Kaiju monsters, whereas in this movie, three ANIMALS are genetically altered and grown to Godzilla-y size.
But, whether they follow the lore of the game faithfully or not, I still think this is an okay movie.

I can only hope that when I am called on to save the world there will be a fully prepped yet unmanned chopper every 40 feet like in this movie.

This movie was better than I thought it would be. If the Rock wasn't in it I would not have even watched it. His charm, sense of humor and silliness carried the movie. I enjoyed it.

An entertaining teen sci-fi comedy that teamed up Kong with the hottest kid-doll Dwayne Johnson in an experiment of CRISPR/Cas9 gone wrong. The initial set up in space was very well done and the rest, CGI, destruction of Chicago, the evil siblings and the humor at the expense of grown-ups, were good for a watch but not enough to peruse the second DVD's "Special Features."

Not going to rehash what’s already been said in other reviews/comments, but for entertainment value, this is a good weekend-nothing to do- lazy afternoon flick. If you know about the arcade game, you’re already a step ahead. If not, go in with a simple (to little) expectation of a fantasy/action movie and you’ll be fine.

SPOILER ALERT! My only gripe is that there was one scene, towards the end, that flustered me and that I couldn’t get over. I know we, as the audience, are to suspend belief on the premise of this movie, but the real world situation of getting shot was beyond logic. It was poor writing and could’ve easily been handled as a “graze”. Other than that, this movie is passable.

Some quotes in IMDb already but not this one:

All right, get outta here, you big lug. Say hi to the dogs for me.
