Interesting future time movie .. Great Easter Egg adventure. I also liked the balance of male and female characters and some interesting dystopian ideas about where the world might go. Should inspire more creativity.

While not as relevant and interesting as the book was I still really enjoyed this movie. The number of easter eggs is CRAZY but I also liked the balance of male and female characters and some interesting dystopian ideas about where the world might go.

The movie is fun to watch regardless on how accurate or not is in relation to the book. What is mind blowing is the technology behind the movie production and puts Spielberg as a visionary that keeps himself up to date with the digital media.
The music is fantastic and all the pop culture references are fascinating.
Not for everyone for sure but for us was an event on its own. The extras DVD is really interesting

A really interesting movie that's pretty original and loaded with "easter eggs" and pop culture references. Feel this definitely isn't for everyone, and has a specific target audience. Can't imagine my parents liking this at all. As a millennial, the movie was super relevant, and even just growing up in a video gaming culture. Loved the comments on how we as a society have become so sucked up into what's not real, spending our time on virtual reality rather than facing reality. It also is scarily a prediction of what society might become, the loss of relationships, human connection, and a surveillance society. The beginning of the movie is a tad boring at first, and the characters aren't developed super well, but then does get interesting as it moves along.

I love Steven Spielberg films; however, this is not one of them. Perhaps a great film for the gamers out there but for me who is not a fan of the medium, I found it difficult to connect to the characters except when they appear live. Not for me...

I love a good mystery; I love a good chase; I love a good adventure; a little romance isn't so bad either. Good clean fun, good guy vs bad guy. What could go wrong? Lots of nostalgia for the baby boomer crowd. Well done.

really underrated maybe because it wasn't made for millennials. If you grew up in the 70's and 80's and liked Adam Sandler's Pixels you will like this movie. It is way more self-reverential than Pixels with Spielberg lathering on fanboy iconography for the GenX crowd. My only complaint is that they should have had Jet Jaguar fight Mechagodzilla or shelled out the cash to get Johnny Sokko’s Giant Robot to do it, but that is a minor self indulgent peeve of mine. It does deviate from the novel of the same name, but both stand well for themselves. Yeah, neither were made for millennials but that isn't a bad thing.

1% of the Brilliant Book is used. The Greatest mystery is why the book's author, Ernest Cline, helped savage it into the deranged and mutilated screenplay? Why was he complicit in Speilberg making a live action Wreck It Ralph / Goonies mashup that would INFURIATE the real Fans in the theater? I had to stop myself leaving the Theater multiple times, because I viewed it with friends. Such a Disappointment. Why write a Ready Player 2, only to be butchered into flashy garbage? Maybe he learned his lesson, or will once incensed Hardcore fans with Gunter tattoos rain down fusillades of stink bombs upon the traitorous Author's noggin, come his next book tour. Would have worked better as a limited series run on a well-moneyed streaming or cable channel. For Shame!!!
