A brilliantly original high concept murder mystery from a fantastic new talent: Gosford Park meets Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express

'Somebody's going to be murdered at the ball tonight. It won't appear to be a murder and so the murderer won't be caught. Rectify that injustice and I'll show you the way out.'

It is meant to be a celebration but it ends in tragedy. As fireworks explode overhead, Evelyn Hardcastle, the young and beautiful daughter of the house, is killed.

But Evelyn will not die just once. Until Aiden &; one of the guests summoned to Blackheath for the party &; can solve her murder, the day will repeat itself, over and over again. Every time ending with the fateful pistol shot.

The only way to break this cycle is to identify the killer. But each time the day begins again, Aiden wakes in the body of a different guest. And someone is determined to prevent him ever escaping Blackheath...

I liked it, I didn't love it. Clue meets groundhog day but every day they're a different person. Slow to start but ultimately decent.

A captivating read but ..."Eight days of misery and fear pouring out like poison" for protagonist and reader.

I liked this book , i didn't love it . It was at times a very tedious read. The complexity of the characters fell short however the story was intriging and the mystery was captivating ...

Wow, I was really surprised at what an enjoyable read this book was, it is refreshingly original! Lived up to the review I read earlier that said it is a cross between “Ground Hog Day” and “Agatha Christie “!
Totally worth reading!

Interesting premise. Terrible execution. Very disappointing. Once you struggle to unscramble the plot, there is no substance to it. The only mystery here is the nonsensical explanation for the setting to even exist. Perhaps it would work better visually, as a film.

Thoroughly original and unexpectedly amusing.

At Blackheath Manor, the murder of Evelyn Hardcastle will occur...can anything be done to stop it? Aiden Bishop has found himself trying to prevent this murder for an unknown amount of time...living the same day over and over until he can stop the murder once and for all.

Not everyone wants him to succeed however. The murderer for one. There are also other mysterious figures who seem to be plotting against him, or are they working with him? One can never be sure...

Pros: So many threads, the author must have had a cheat sheet to write this one. So fresh and unconventional, but with many comforting aspects of a classic mystery (gothic setting, interesting cast of characters, motivations aplenty).

Cons: Quite a complex novel, best read as continuously as possible otherwise it becomes quite difficult to follow.

I love a book that makes you think and laugh, and even better when there is an irresistible mystery to solve.
