It has been several months since monsters last plagued the town of Stermont, and frankly Alexander Bopp (leader of the Super Secret Monster Patrol) is bored, and misses his friends Rip (immersed in video games) and Nikki (soccer camp), so when his father signs him up for a summer maker program at the library he is happy to go--but soon he starts finding weird old-timey objects, and monster trading cards, and it starts to look like maybe monsters are back in Stermont.

This book is about a boy named Alexander who lives in a small town named Stermont, that is full of surprises. Throughout the years, Alexander, along with his 2 friends Nicki and Rip, has encountered (and fought) many monsters. Throughout the series he keeps fighting and saving his town from destruction, and after defeating the “boss” monster, all the monsters vanished. With no other monsters to face, him and his friends abandoned their crew. But after Alexander’s dad signs him up for a program, Alexander discovered that the monsters could be back. He found a mysterious trading card with a monster on it and after reuniting with his friends, they discover more monster trading cards and find out that those same monsters were trapped in the basement of Rip's house. A monster named Brute Cake glazed other monsters and kept them hidden there for days! And just like that, the trio is back to fighting monsters once again! I enjoyed the book because it was very mysterious and suspicious because the protagonists were discovering many things that led them to a discovery. I love mystery. - Jonathan
