Now a Netflix original series!

To protect his ward, Ciri, Geralt of Rivia sends her away from the home of the Witchers to train with the sorceress Yennefer. But all is not well within the Wizard's Guild in the second book of the New York Times bestselling series that inspired the Netflix show and the hit video games.

Geralt is a Witcher: guardian of the innocent; protector of those in need; a defender, in dark times, against some of the most frightening creatures of myth and legend. His task, now, is to protect Ciri. A child of prophecy, she will have the power to change the world for good or for ill -- but only if she lives to use it.

Andrzej Sapkowski, winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement award, started an international phenomenon with his Witcher series.

Now, look out for The Tower of Fools, book one of Andrzej Sapkowski's Hussite Trilogy, coming in October 2020!

This is another great Witcher Book by Sapkowski that really built on the story after the events in Blood of Elves. There were plenty of exciting moments in this book that leaves the reader in suspense to know what will happen next. Furthermore, this book does not hold back in displaying how dark the world is in the Witcher series which makes the world feel more real. I can’t wait to find out what happens next in Baptist of Fire.

In this book Sapkowski continues his elegant world-building, further fleshing out the world of The Witcher, meanwhile rocketing the plot forward at all times. The characters, as always, are interesting, engaging, and consistent. In this volume there is quite a bit of development with Ciri's character, which is wonderful, as she is the best character in the franchise apart from Geralt himself. Geralt, meanwhile, receives far more focus in this book than in "Blood of Elves," which is refreshing and exciting. This book is not as elegant as "Blood of Elves," in terms of its grace and use of language (I do suspect some of this has to do with the translation), but is just as entertaining. Another great book in this franchise, and I am excited to continue on with the remainder of the series.

Another great edition to The Witcher franchise. I do agree that Sapkowski should have maps drawn. It would be great to have an idea where the kingdoms are in junction to another. But I disagree with the sorceress rant about them being vain. They are and the Sorcerers aren't much better. It's not about gender it's about them being incredibly powerful and arrogant. Their vanity comes from their power.

Improves upon the world-building of "The Blood of Elves", many thrilling sequences and bone-jarring "fantasy realism", should definitely appeal to fans of George R.R. Martin and co.
