Full disclosure - I did not realize when I picked THE RIVER MURDERS up that it had 3 shorter stories by James Patterson and James O. Born instead of a full-length novel. That's on me. I didn't discover that until I reached the end of the 1st story - 114 pages later. The story was interesting and I was ready to keep reading until the end of the book - but the story stopped. And it did not stop with a true ending. Totally left me hanging and frustrated. I decided not to read the next two stories, figuring they may end the same way. So in fairness, my mediocre rating for this book is based on only 1 of the 3 stories. What the first one seemed like to me was the beginning of a full fledged novel that someone decided not to finish. It could have been a good full-length novel giving all the twists and turns and story set-ups in the 114-page version. No comment on the other two as I didn't read them. caveat emptor.
