ahhh. one of my favorite books. will i ever not read it once every three months?
I love classics and oldies, but I struggled to finish this book because I found it downright boring. The nature parts were interesting, and the first half was a lot better than the first. By the second half, the romance starts, and it's very sappy and lame. And I usually like that stuff. I would rather have read Anne of Green Gables.
This book is epic and rich in detail. It has been two days since I finished the book and I cannot stop thinking about the themes in the book:
and how the actions of the adults affect the children not just Elnora but the younger ones that surround them. I wish I could give every girl I know this book.
This book makes me want to play the violin.
It is a complete shame that this is the only Gene Stratton Porter book currently available at the library. An old classic, akin to the Anne of Green Galbles series. Thank goodness I have a nimber of her books in my home collection. They will inspire you to explore the flora and fauna of your neighborhood.
I'm amazed(and grateful) that this book is still in print. I read it as a tee, again in my thirties. Let's see how it appeals to the mature me.Equally good as anything Lucy M ever wrote.
Absolutely an amazing Book!!!!! This was such a great book. Kept me in suspense and was great detail just enough to add that special umph! Great book! Loved It!!
