This, the second in the series featuring the espionage exploits of Richard Hannay is somewhat more elaborately developed than The Thirty-nine Steps but it shares many of the first book's shortcomings, notably a plot line that requires a great degree of suspension of disbelief. The fact that characters keep re-encountering each other over vast stretches of territory at critical moments is particularly disturbing. It's an amusing tale that held my attention but I think I've had quite enough of Hannay by now and I'll take a pass on the remaining books.

As I recall, I got this for a family member and they weren't too keen on it and I never read it.
