Book News
The author, an editor and former publications director for the National Council for the Social Studies and the Anti-Defamation League, has done extensive research on the events of the war. He openly acknowledges the subjectivity of his list of "influential" people men and women who brought about either good or evil changes in the war in Europe, in the Pacific, and in Hitler's war against the Jews. Each individual is presented in a short vignette. Included are government and military leaders, diplomats, scientists who designed the weapons, intelligence people who cracked the codes, journalists who reported the war, those who fought the battles, and the victims. The book design, unfortunately, mars legibility by putting half-screen maps in the background on nearly half the pages. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (
