A compassionate yet unflinching critique of the Royal Family's clumsy and high-handed response to Princess Diana's death. Helen Mirren is amazing as the proud, hard-working aristocrat who slowly comprehends--with help from Labor PM Tony Blair--that times have changed, and the royals need to change along with them. Good re-creation of their gilded world (including some old news footage interwoven); reveals some of how the Queen & PM influence each other. Scotland shines as the scenic background for the Balmoral palace.
