A significant improvement over Nesbo's first Harry Hole book, The Bat. You can see him developing as a writer with more complexity of character and description. Nesbo's recurring theme of corruption in institutions (government, police) begins here as does his gripping accounts of violence and double plot twist. Harry's character also becomes more fully formed. Definitely recommended.
