A cute little book that reminds me of the old Bobbsy Twins series and other family-adventure books. (And a bit of Beverly Cleary's Ramona and Beezus.) But updated to appeal to the middle school (and middle age) reader of the 21st century. There's not a lot of action, no big adventure, but the book doesn't suffer for that. It's enjoyable enough to meet the girls and learn about them, their gentle father, and the other characters. I like that, although each of the sisters fits a trope or stereotype, there's more to them than that trope - Skye is a tomboy, but she's also really good at math; Jane is the head-in-the-clouds dreamer, but she is really good (better than Skye) at soccer. A sweet beginning to what should be a fun series.
