Such Great Foundation Premise - that is, so long as it is not mistaken for something other than what it is. Lets see if I can explain that without gaining a spoiler alert: 'the creed' as stated is a metaphor for (the power of intention as related to) the heart center (and by intention) the Centered Heart. (Because, for ONE...) What we call "Reality" is the school of hard knocks and the dance of learning (one of the paradoxes of a dualistic universe, no matter how many realities). EG: Walking "on the earth" (grounded in understanding of what's goes on in people's hearts, minds, and bodies in the daily grind, etc), "but not of the Earth" - aware that it's ALL part of the dance of learning. In the special features, McCanaughey, describing the mindset behind the role he plays, refers to various beliefs relating to Free Will and (negatively) to "saying yes to all of it," but that does not account for the premise that every critical play of a Present Moment requires a unique approach drawn through and filtered by that Centered Heart via choice (becoming increasingly conscious) per Free Will. As far as that 'creed' goes, it could be said that if one "kills" hate within one self, one transmutes one's lead into gold - and that kind of gold attracts more toward that pure intention and away from divisive thought. Which metaphor also relates to the Kali-Shiva (death & rebirth) theme of metaphysics... There, didn't say anything about the nature of the screen play or the (intense) action carrying the plot, right? Much easier to correlate the metaphors than in the Matrix series. At least so far, although some may question why the tower is a "Dark Tower" vs a "Light Tower"(?). But knowing Stephen King (albeit not having read the books), I'm guessing future movies on this theme will continue to mix it up a bit, while deepening and expanding the metaphor(s). But just forget all that and enjoy the movie ;-) as the other reviews here indicate there is no worry about the movie being a spoiler for the book version - or vise versa. (How's that for positive spin? ;-)
